ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " Q "

Its ABC Wednesday again and we are at that difficult letter Q.
I thought a lot about what to post and finally remembered a shot I took at the Auburn Medical Museum last month.
Sorry to say I haven't any idea what this quaint vintage canister says but it does have the letter Q printed on it. Any ideas anyone?
The medical canister reads; Panax Quing.
Remember to go to Mrs. Nesbitts for other Q posts.
I am posting early since I will be out of town for several days. I will comment on yours when I return this weekend.
Enlarging the shot may help you figure out what the product is.

Great shot.. so colourful. If you Google "Panax Quing" it seems to couple Panax with Ginseng.. so probably Ginseng root.

Lovely shot of a quaint container, but I'm sorry I can't help with the translation. Maybe it's in Latin.

Beautiful canister! I googled it and it talked about herbal remedies for hot flashes at one site :0)

I have no idea what the label means, but I see Hilary said it might be ginseng. That's a plausible explanation, but what's that snake doing in the drawing?? Great post--I'll have to come back later to see if someone has positively identified it.

Those jars are beautiful. They remind me of some that I saw in a drugstore in Haiti once. When the owner saw us eyeing them, we were told right up front that they were NOT for sale. They were very similar to these.

I googled those words too when I first read your post. I thought of quinine too, but what I read seemed to indicate something with ginseng.

From a brief research on the internet, Panax is some sort of ginger root. Nice looking container and still in good condition.

Q is a hard one, but you Quaint is perfect.

My brother had his truck stolen from the Auburn train station last weekend... a merry adventure all the way around as my Sweetie went to pick it up in San Francisco after it was found on the streets of that city... quite a lengthy retrieval. Excellent picture!
