ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " O "

Today's post for ABC Wednesday is for the letter " O ".
" O " is for Orphans.
Our family , along with more than 800 people, participated in the annual 1.6 mile walk-a-thon called Hopewalks.
Hopewalks is for children of The Epidemic.
Everyday 6000 children are orphaned because of HIV/AIDS throughout the world.
This walk concentrated on the Continent of Africa where the effects of AIDS is devestating.
Hopewalks provides food, school supplies and basic health care for the vast number of Orphans.
Over $35,000.00 was raised by this walk one week ago.
It was an honor to be able to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.
To see what others have posted for ABC Wednesday go to Mrs. Nesbitts link on my sidebar.
When you enlarge the group shot you can see the many different ages that walked for this cause.
Thanks
Sue

That is a wonderful story and a beautiful gesture. I too care about the orphans that are stranded worldwide, but particularly in Africa, but we do what we can. Bravo.

It's very important that you do this walk for the orphans. It's awful to know that we spend money on the wrong things. So I admire you for participating in this Hopewalks.

The War Machine could pay for a cure by now, or at least bring one closer.
It is a horrendous situation.

Excellent post about such a worth-while cause. Too much is spent on unnecessary things, so you've done well!
Thanks for visiting.

They walked for a good cause - may it have more than a pure monetary effect.

Good for you. Because of the better treatments available here for HIV, it's easy to forget that it is still a major scourge in some developing nations.

Thanks for doing your part to alleviate the suffering and raise awareness.

That's a tragic statistic, but so lovely to hear of so much being done for them.

It's always heartwarming to see all the different ages working together.

It's a troubled world, isn't it? The long trail of walkers in your photo does give a vision of hope, hope for the orphans to lead a somewhat better life. I cannot imagine their lives!

It is amazing what people do all over the world.
Living in Africa where the spectre of aids broods over the country, it is heartbreaking to see the devastation that this didease leaves behind. What is also sad is that there is such a large sector of our society that does not take it seriously, in spite of the publicity and warnings.
Where will this eventually end? Hopefully a cure is found one day.
Thanks for all the visits and your comments
