ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " M "

Today's letter challenge is " M ".
The Mosaic birdbath is my choice for the letter M.
Vintage plates were broken and set into the soft clay to create a lovely mosaic pattern.
Go to Mrs. Nesbitts' link on my sidebar to see what others have chosen for ABC Wednesday.
Be sure to click on the photo to see all the different plate designs enlarged.

I enlarged it, and wow, it's such a pretty mosaic pattern for the bird bath. The birds got lucky here.

Nicely made birdbath. Hope the vintage plates weren't valuable? - Dave

Did you make that? It's gorgeous!! I love old crockery, and it's often hard to find a good use for the cracked and broken pieces.

Love mosaic, so I had to enlarge it. Why have I not saved all my broken plates? Beautiful piece.

I've seen how they do this in a video and it's facinating. It also looks like fun to do.

Hi Photowannabe Sue,

I'm afraid I fell behind on last Wednesday and didn't have a chance to get to everybody -- I missed your mosaic, I'm afraid...

Although the business folded a few years ago, after a 50 year run, my aunt operated an arts and crafts business in San Rafael that got it's start by selling little mosaic tiles imported from Japan... When I was a kid, and when we visited, I used to help bag up grout...

My husband's colleague makes all manner of broken mosaic things, including birdbaths, and I find them very beautiful.
