WHERE I WAS LAST WEEK

Last week my husband and I worked the 19th annual conference of the Professional Businesswomen of California. Over 5000 attended the highly motivated and estrogen charged event.
Pictured are two of the keynote speakers that I helped while working the speakers lounge area.
Faceing the camera is Madeleine Albright who was the 64th Secretary of State of the United States. She was formerly the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations. She was signing her latest book..Memo to the President Elect: How We Can Restore America's Reputation and Leadership. It was published in January 2008.
Ms. Albright is a most gracious woman and seemed to enjoy sharing her thoughts with so many entrepreneurs.
The woman Ms. Albright is speaking to is Cokie Roberts. Cokie is a Polital Commentator for ABC News and a Senior News Analyst for National Public Radio. She has been cited as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. On April 12th she was honered as a "Living Legend" by the Library of Congress.
I was previleged to receive her latest best-seller Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation.
I felt fortunate to be among such interesting people. There were many local television and radio personalities there also.
Technically this isn't a great picture by any means but I had to take this without disturbing anyone, since I was suppose to be working.

I assume you like to go to these events. I never did. Oh it was OK once I got there but getting there and arguing with myself was a challenge. Nice shot.

I like the title of Ms Albright's book: "How We Can Restore America's Reputation and Leadership"...

That's something that definitely needs some attention.

Those were the times, when Ms. Albright was Secretary of State and Cokie Roberts, who has been legend as a journalist for so many years now! Reading those names makes me homesick, both being fellow Washingtonians.
I bet you had a wonderful times meeting these two extraordinary women.
Have a wonderful weekend!

what great company you were in! i'm sure it was inspiring. i received a very generous scholarship from our state's Business and Professional Busineswomen's Association when I went back to school in my 20's. It enabled me to continue my education without encruing any debt. it's a great organization.

Good picture, seeing that you were pointing your camera surreptitiously when you should have been working.... did you feel a bit like an undersover spy? You must have had some very interesting conversations at that conference.

I'm envious...did you get to hear many speakers? I would have loved to have been a mouse in your pocket.

Well, you keep good company, Sue. It's fun to see these phenomenal women in your blog photo, and to feel your presence right there behind the camera lens.

Best wishes to you. Hope all is going well for you and yours.

That really was a great event that you had fortunate to attend and to be among such interesting people. Ms. Madeleine Albright is beloved lady in my country because of her contribution in supporting the just fight for the defense of Sarajevo and B&H and development of relations between the people of different nations, religions and cultures on principles of democracy, humanity and tolerance. That’s why she was declared honorary citizen of Sarajevo in March of this year.
