OUR FIRST FRUIT OF THE SEASON

Hubby and I picked our first crop of the spring/summer season. Beautiful, sweet cherries. I don't know what their name is but they are delicious. We decided to pick all there were to beat out the birds. Last year they were all gone before we moved into our home.
We also picked a bowl of mulberries from our tree. I didn't know what they were either. They are so sweet and not many seeds to worry about. We are in competition with the Robins for these morsels.
For this City Girl there is nothing more exciting and satisfing than picking something and just popping in my mouth. Yummm.

Wow, fruit already! We have a few months to go. Saw your comment about 103. I took off from Bailey CO this morning, and it was 38. By the time is was back in Delta, it was 83. I found myself longing for 70's :)

Yep, you certainly are in the right area of California for fruit trees!   Reminds me of that Jessie Collin Young song about how the trees turn into pies in July...

They look so good! Cherries in the supermarkets around here are always terribly expensive so I've olny had fresh ones once in my life that I can recall.

They look good too. Nice photo.

I planted a sour cherry tree about 25 years ago. Cherry trees usually only last about 20 years but this one is dying in pieces and this year it still got cherries on it. I hope to be able to taste at least one.

Sour cherries make excellent pies while sweet ones are the ones we always either ate on the spot or mom made jelly with them.

Nice post. Brought back some memories.

Oh yummy cherries, I haven't tasted a fresh cherry for ages, I think I may have to go to the grocery store and buy some now that I have seen this pic......

The cherries look good. I love mulberries. My aunt had a couple of trees in her yard. They were sweet, but as I recall, messy.

They sure look good!

My cherries are little green balls now, it will be a few weeks before me and the birds can have a go at them. I can't begrudge the birds their cherries as they planted this tree in the fence row before I made this my home. I've been picking cherries off it for 30 years. Sorry to hear about your drought, we are experiencing a much wetter than usual May. We even had a half inch of snow on the mountain one morning last week, very unusual!

Good picture, as usual. My wife buys cherries in season and loves them. Very expensive here in New Zealand too. I rarely get to taste them... Lucky you. - Dave

How wonderful! Life's a bowl of cherries ... ;-)
I found the first organic apricots from Sicily at the market on Saturday. Summer's around the corner.

Greetings from Joensuu, where are not even apple trees flowering yet.
We have got again cold, rainy days and a nature is waiting warmer days.
Your cherries are exotic fruits for us, they can not manage here. We can them from markets of course, but they are not always good after a long way to us.
Happy week to you, Sue!

I can taste them. We have another month to wait for MI cherries. And last year my friend and her husband waited to pick theirs, and the birds beat them to it - in one day! So good call on your speediness.
