UP ON THE ROOF

Another picture from my archives of the New York City rooftops.
This shot was taken from our hotel room window. I find NYC so fascinating.

Never been to NY but always find big cities interesting, but glad I dont live in a big city. The rural life is for me

This photo is great. There are so many interesting details on it especially when it is enlarged. I had some fun with this photo. The cars on the roof car park look like toys from above and I am wondering what that could be on the roof on the left side of the photo; if it is some kind of restaurant or something else. I can also see a Fed-ex car down on the street; they don’t have a clue they have a free advertise today.:-))

Hi Photowannabe Sue,

That's a GREAT shot -- something that I don't see very often...

The last time I was in NYC was about 40 years ago, and I spent pretty much the whole week sick with the flu in a shabby hotel on 12th St. The photo of the building in your post below looks like the view I had from my room.

Love all your city photos! Living on the beach is great but we get overloaded with Nature sometimes and I often dream of traffic lights, crowds and steel and concrete

What a fantastic view! I wouldn't mind visiting there but for me it's the rural life also.

Very cool. I love the hustle and bustle. :)

Fascinating view. I live so close to NY that I tend to take if for granted. This is a wonderful study of something that seems (although I know it's not) so uniquely NY.

Oh, Sue, there is so much detail to hold my interest when I enlarge the photo. I've always loved the rooftop water containers in NYC. The rooftop parking, I was thinking of this today, believe it or not, when driving into my own parking ramp. The FedEx truck. The beautiful rooftop garden room, including greenhouse! And is that really DKNY headquarters?? I'll bet it looks better inside. :)

Thanks for your comment today at flying, hehe. Don't you just look at photos sometimes and an idea occurs to you? I didn't think of it before taking the pic, only after.

What a fabulous picture. I love the contrast between the beautifully kept roof garden and other shabby roofs. And those gargoyles(?) up the front of that building facing you.... There's just so much to see.

I don't think I could take it, standing that high with my eye off the rail. You are one brave woman, Sue.

I visited NYC back in the early 90s, had a wonderful 5 days there, seeing all the sights, but I would definitely not enjoy living there on a permanent basis. That's a great pic, it really captures the hustle and bustle of NYC living.

Sue,
Quite interesting how they've learned to use every available space - even the roof tops (greenhouse/garden and two-deep parking lot). Enjoyed seeing the two photos of the fire escape (I enjoyed seeing the red). The food made me hungry! Have a great weekend.

I have not been to NYC in 20 years. I can see how one can spend endless hours just photographing the city life and its people.

Wow, you were really high up. My knees are getting wobbly by looking down.
