LOOKING OUT AT THE RAINY WORLD

The West Coast of California is being beaten by its first big storm of the year. The winds are gusting at 45 mph and sometimes even higher. Rain is dumping on us in buckets and the power keeps going out. Just a typical day in Sunny California....
I took this shot through our diningroom window. It really doesn't show how wild it is out there, but that's about as close to the outside as I'm going to get today.
Have a great weekend everyone. Stay warm...stay dry....
You must check out Mr Mappers' post today. His pictures of the storm show the intensity in good detail. He lives about 8 minutes from us and is in a more open area. They are very descriptive.

Wild and Wet, looks like the weather we get in the spring. We've had lots of snow, and yesterday was -17C in the morning, but the forecast for next week is for rain and above freezing temps! Very strange weather.

I hear you. I see the same rain and wind from my window. At least I still have power. Stay dry!

Yep, it's pretty wet and WINDY here in Marin County too... It should let up a bit this afternoon, but another one is coming in tomorrow... I heard some trees snap earlier and I can hear a few chainsaws going outside now... Stay inside, dry and warm!

Ex-shammickite and I are sharing the same part of the world.. and weather. I've been snapping and posting some snowy photos, but the rain will soon wash that away if the forecast is correct.

Lovely, moody image. I love rain (in warm weather).

Better stay in, then.

I have been to California twice - both times in March with excellent weather and between 20 and 30 degrees C. This looks almost like home. Are you sure you haven't "stolen" one of my pictures? ;-)

I love rainy days but can dispense with the wild winds. That is definitely indoor weather

Wonderful photo of your wild, wet day!
We usually get 'weather' about three days after it hits the coast, so I hope there's lots of wet left in those clouds when they arrive!
Rain or snow, we'll take it gladly:)

From where I sit that looks really exotic - rain or not. Very atmospheric picture; wish I was there!

Austrian TV this evening broadcast pretty awful storm pictures from your part of the world. I hope you stay safe and dry.
I apologize for not be able to visit my blog friends or answer my comments during this week: Our last houseguests left two hours ago (it Saturday evening here). I have cooked so many meals during those last two weeks, I don't even want to think about food for some time now.
Have a wonderful 2008, and many many great photo opportunities may await you. I am certainly looking forward to your pictures.

I love a good storm. When we got to Virginia in 03, we got to see Hurricane Isabel first hand. I loved it! The next day we were out backpacking in the aftermath. That was even better!

Enjoy! (but be safe)

I've been thinking about you as I've read about the weather. Stay safe.

Our cold weather came and went. Now we're in the 70's.

It rained here all day yesterday, we had half an inch of rain and it also warmed up and melted all the snow on the valley floor.

Oh, I heard about this, could be the worst storm ever in CA. Please take care. We heard about 10 feet of snow expected in the mountains!

I LOVE stormy weather if I'm indoors and reading or writing. But not if they're dangerous. I hope you're safe and with power.

My husband just read in the paper that Lake Tahoe had winds up to 165 mph!

I'd rather have that than the cold and snow here.

Yikes - keep safe. Hope there is no damage.

Our storms have gone but it is cloudy today and the sea is very rough!
