LILLIES IN FALL

Last month ,while walking along a marshy area near our home , I found these lillies growing with their green leaf pads on the shore of the marsh. They look too springlike to be blooming in late September. Somepne said they were water hyacients but because of the lily pads I will call them lillies or irises.

I didn't know any lilies grew in the fall, Sue! These are an unusual shape too. Very pretty photo.

It's so nice to sign on to the computer and find flowers as lovely as your lillies. Never seen any like them. Absolutely Beeeee-Utiful! If I was to pick a name for them - I'd call them Peacock Lillies.

they might be in the same family...they remind me of some of the markings I have seen on iris. Lovely photo.

I'm sorry to tell you the flower is not a lily nor is it an iris. It is Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is one of the worst weeds in the world--aquatic or terrestrial. Until only a few years ago, this floating plant was a major problem in Florida. It is illegal to grow in Florida
