THE FINAL PRODUCT

Some of you may remember my photos of a mystery flower back in early June. We came to the agreement that the flowers were pomegranets in the making. Later in July I showed the fruit forming on the tree. Now the final stage has been reached....picked fruit.
We have so many of these red globes we really don't know what to do with them. They are bursting at the seams. You can see the beautiful ruby red little pieces inside the skin. The branches are very thorny so I used pruning shears to get them off.
My pictures don't come out as large as they used to with this new format. Please click on the picture to see the fruit in greater detail.

i have always loved the pearly red insides of pomegranates!!! they look like, as u said, rubies. these look mouthwatering esp. the open one.....how lucky to eat one's own garden produce!!!! why dont u split open a few of them completely and take a pic and have their rich juicy innards at display :)

Look at those beautiful pomegranates! You are oh so lucky! You know, around here supermarkets charge $2.99 each.

I like to add those beautiful seeds to green salads.

Lovely pomegranates! I like to use the juice in a salad dressing and include the beautiful seeds too. they also go nicely scattered over a plate of cold meats.

Oh, I loved living in CA many moons ago. We had avacado trees and lemon trees. Such a treat. But wow, to have pomegranates, what a treasure. I LOVE them.

Oh, they look so good. I remember sucking on those insides at my grandpa's house. What do you call the insides?

Thank of how happy you might make some recipients of your largesse - handing a pomegranate to the bank teller who serves you, or to the greeter at your church on Sunday. gee, I wish you could reach out through the computer screen right now.

Such a beautiful fruit. I've never known what to do with them either but I'm sure there must be recipes for yummy stuff.

Did your son tell you an elderly weird lady waved at him in Salem yesterday? I tried :)

Beautiful. I haven't had pomegranates in years. The inside of the fruit is very pretty.

They're beautiful! I've been wondering how they were doing. What else have you harvested?

How neat! I am so glad you followed up on that posting.

I haven't eaten a pomegranate since I was a kid. My friend that lived across the street from me had a tree in his back yard and we loved it when they ripened.

Wow, Sue, this is so... yummy! We had it here too, and we call them "granadas". I like it very much. And the photo too! ;)

Sue,
Let see...pomegranate ice cream, pomegranate jello, pomegranate martinis, pomegranate pancake syrup. Thought you may need a few suggestions. I would no idea what to do with them, either. At least, that many of them. Have you tried selling them at the farmer's market?

Sue,
One of my favorite Christmas salad recipes has pomegranates! Every one loves it and always wants the recipe.

Here is the link to that recipe:

Pomeganate juice is also the "new" health food item! Supposed to be great for you! Here is another article for you.....guess you now just need to find out how to juice them. Good luck with it.....let us know how it goes!
