SAN FRANCISCO PRESIDIO
Today my husband and I went to the Memorial Day Military Ceremony at the San Francisco Presidio. It was touching and full of pagentry. I tried to take pictures of the 21 gun salute but the report was so loud, all I got was a blur.
Dave's parents are buried there and also my daughter in law's Uncle. My Father in Law was on active service at Pearl Harbor during the bombing. Thankfully he survived, continued a career in the Army and lived to a nice old age.
This cemetery is so lovely and especially so with each headstone decorated with an American flag.

Beautifully moving...
The relationship of Americans to their flag never fails to amaze me.
Beautiful post and moving thoughts.
Realised I hadn't visited for a while so went back to your previous posts. Fell in love with your ripening almonds. We used to have them in Provence. What other fruit trees do you have?
Important day here and very good post for the occasion. I am interested in Nathalie's comment about our flag, which is more than mere symbolism to us, I guess.
Beautiful post.
What a legacy your family has with the military! Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Beautiful and poignant
WOW what an awesome show here! Love the color and your capture was just great! I have soooo missed stopping by and viewing your beauty, I am trying to get back into the swing of things and this was a great place to start! Your shots always make me feel bright and make me smile inside...THANKS
Nice photo to remember Memorial Day.
The red, white and blue flowers are so pretty in this lovely photo.
As they say, freedom isn't free. I think it's great that we have this day to think about and honor those who served in the military. Your photo is really great. The flowers and flag are perfect.
The Presidio is such a lovely place. I wish I had been there with you, honoring others who've served me and mine and you and yours.
Moving!
beautiful and touching .....
I love the picture. My grandfather-in-law was at Pearl Harbor, too. Not many of them left.
That is indeed a lovely photo.
Thanks for the great reminder, honor and memory of grandpa. Wish I was there to enjoy it too.
