POPPY

Springtime at San Pedro Park . Beautiful California Poppies are blooming all over.
Our son and his family are arriving from Oregon tomorrow and our other son and his family will be here from the Sacramento area on Friday.
I'm so excitied to have the whole family together for a few days. its been over a year since the last time.
We're all working to make our garage sale, yard sale, tag sale, whatever you call it, a success on Saturday. We have to sell so many treasures and "stuff". We don't want to pack it for our move in a month or two.
All that, to say I won't be posting for a few days. There just won't be time to do that or comment on your blogs.
I will catch up with all of you in a few days.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Spring is still a bit delayed around here, and poppies are usually among the last flowers to show up. This is a beautiful picture. I wish you all the best for your family reunion and garage sale (I love the concept - it's a pity we don't have that here...). We'll all miss your posts, though!

Absolutely beautiful shot !
Ah yes, the poppies and the other wildflowers are starting to do thier "thing", although I am hopeful this post-storm wind will die down to make shooting them easier... I went out to Chimney Rock at Point Reyes on Friday -- I think that area offers one of the finest displays on the west coast -- but that is a slightly colder and foggier climate out there and it'll be a couple more weeks before they are all in full bloom... Can't wait...

Your photo is vivid and lovely. And, it's great to see shortly after I opened my eyes. Have fun with your family. Any more pictures of your construction, AND, be sure to take some shots of the garage sale! PS. I hope your sons visit your blog regularly; it they do they must be impressed!

I love poppies. They may just be my favorite flower - but then, who can say what is a favorite when spring blooms abound.

I'm sorry that the dreaded red x greeted you on my blog today. I reposted.

Meanwhile, have a very lucrative weekend. Your boys will be there to help, I think? What a treat for you to have family to talk with while you wait for the buyers to buy.

I'd love to come and browse your yard sale but it's a bit too far to come from here in "The Great White North" which, incidentally isn't so white any more. Spring is springing at last.
Lovely pic of the California poppy. I grew some a couple of years ago but they didn't survive the winter, although I know that they can, as I've seen them in other people's gardens, I guess I just don't have the right touch.

PWB, thanks for finding time to come over and comment on the old one & the new one.
I saw this pic and wished immediately that you could see the shot I chose for my desktop this week: looking upwards, the bank of a hill of sharp green grass, beyond a deep blue sky and carpeting the grass, a whole legion of these poppies. It'ds great when they grow intermingled with the classic reds. Wish you a good family get-together!

beautiful. Have a great weekend and enjoy with your family

There is something very special about poppies, it is not just the symbolism associated with remembrance or the dangerous connection with opium...they just seem to be the perfect connection between "weed" and "flower".

I hope your garage sale will be a success and have a happy family reunion!

Add me to the list of folk's loving this shot. The flower looks disembodied, as if it's floating in air. Adds a bit of tension.

I finally broke down and started a new photo blog myself called John's Daily Digital Images if you care to go and check it out.
