THE MELTING POT

San Francisco is a melting pot of the world. 24th Street and Valencia Street is a crossroad to many different cultures and ethnic groups. This mural is next to an American style hamburger place, beside a Mediterranian restaurant, A Mexican restaurant, a Thai restaurant and many, many more wonderful places to eat and shop.
I'm not sure what the mural says but the colors are beautiful like the people it represents.

Thanks for the reminder about the Mission District... The last time I was in that area was Cinco de Mayo, but I couldn't get close enough to the parade to get any good pictures... Then some fellow thought I was taking a picture of him (actually I was shooting way over his head with the zoom) and he started giving me a bunch of stuff, so I got the heck out of there before I got stabbed or something... (The Mission does have a rather sordid reputation) I wandered up the hill, and that's when I started discovering absolutely fabulously painted Victorians... That opened up a whole new project for me -- the "painted ladies" of San Francisco...

It is a wonderful mural. I love looking at these and finding little surprises.

I like the sphere/boat/floaty thing. The writing in the lower right hand corner makes me wonder if it was a school project.

Yes, I really like this mural, too--interesting how is parallels the diversity of the nearby restaurants. Must be a nice little oasis among all the hubub of the city. And I like the floaty-thing too.
